Job summary
The Plumber installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing, piping, and drainage systems that support textile
production and facility operations. The role ensures reliable water supply, effective drainage, and safe working
conditions by executing quality installations, preventive maintenance, and compliance with health, safety, and
environmental standards.
Key roles and responsibilities
• Installation & System Setup
– Design, assemble, and install water supply, drainage, and waste systems in accordance with blueprints
and specifications.
– Select and fit pipes, valves, joints, and fixtures appropriate to system design and operational
requirements.
– Install sinks, water closets, tubs, water heaters, and other sanitary or utility fittings.
– Ensure secure, leak-free connections using proper soldering, threading, or sealing methods.
– Support installation of piping for fire suppression, compressed air, or boiler systems where required.
• Maintenance & Repair
– Conduct routine inspection and preventive maintenance of plumbing and drainage systems.
– Detect and repair leaks, clogs, pressure drops, or flow irregularities in pipelines and fixtures.
– Replace defective sections, fittings, and valves to maintain system reliability.
– Perform cleaning, flushing, or descaling of blocked lines or tanks.
– Assist in maintenance of utility systems such as humidifiers, boilers, or cooling water systems.
• Testing & Quality Assurance
– Conduct pressure and flow tests on new or repaired installations using gauges and specialized
equipment.
– Record test data and verify results against operational and safety standards.
– Identify non-conformities and recommend corrective actions or redesigns.
– Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
standards during installation and maintenance.
• Safety, QHSE & Housekeeping
– Follow Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) protocols in all plumbing and maintenance work.
– Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling tools, hot water systems, or
pressurized lines.
– Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free work environment in line with 5S principles (Sort, Set in
Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain).
– Manage wastewater and plumbing waste responsibly, ensuring environmentally safe disposal.
– Report incidents, unsafe conditions, or near misses immediately to the supervisor.
• Documentation, Coordination & Continuous Improvement
– Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and system changes.
– Coordinate with electricians, welders, masons, and engineers on joint maintenance and installation
projects.
– Provide input on material requirements and system design improvements.
– Participate in toolbox talks, safety drills, and skill development programs.
– Contribute to energy and water conservation initiatives within the facility.
• Compliance with Vistari’s Corporate Systems
– Apply the highest standards of internal controls and risk management practices and behaviours and
embed a positive risk and control culture.
– Demonstrate prudence, sound judgement, and appropriate and timely escalations in management of all
types of risk (including fraud risk) applicable to the role.
– Promote and adhere to Vistari’s core values and ensure compliance with organisational policies and
procedures, collective agreements, and statutory employment standards.
– Maintain zero tolerance to bribery, fraud, and corruption, and ensure the immediate reporting of any
corruption or suspect behaviour that threatens Vistari’s reputation.
– Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures and immediately report any safeguarding concerns.
– Any other related responsibilities that may be assigned by the Line Manager from time to time
