Job summary
The Electrical & Electronics Technician ensure the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of all electrical and
electronic systems, machinery, and power infrastructure across the textile plant. The role involves installing,
inspecting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and control systems to support uninterrupted production while
ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Key roles and responsibilities
• Maintenance & Repair
– Inspect electrical and electronic systems, wiring, fixtures, and components to detect faults, hazards, or
irregular performance.
– Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test devices such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, insulation
testers, and loop testers.
– Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, PLC panels, motor control centres (MCCs),
variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, and instrumentation.
– Repair or replace defective wiring, relays, switches, fuses, contactors, sensors, and other electrical or
electronic components.
– Ensure electrical and electronic systems are safe, stable, and operating within prescribed voltage and
load limits.
• Installation, Calibration & Testing
– Install, wire, and commission electrical and electronic control systems according to technical drawings
and wiring diagrams.
– Support installation of new machines and automation systems, ensuring proper integration with plant
power and control infrastructure.
– Test, calibrate, and verify the performance of electrical circuits, PLCs, and control devices.
– Maintain alignment and synchronisation of electronic sensors, timers, and protection relays for optimal
system response.
• Safety, QHSE & Compliance
– Adhere to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) procedures and electrical codes (e.g., IEE,
OSHA, and Energy Act regulations).
– Use correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and apply lock-out/tag-out procedures when working
on live systems.
– Maintain clean, organised, and hazard-free electrical and control panels in accordance with 5S principles.
– Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
standards.
– Report any electrical incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately to the supervisor.
– Support energy management initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce power wastage.
• Documentation & Reporting
– Maintain accurate logs of inspections, maintenance activities, breakdowns, and spare parts usage.
– Record key operating parameters such as voltage, current, power factor, and motor load performance.
– Prepare maintenance and energy consumption reports for management review.
– Provide feedback on recurring issues to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Coordination & Continuous Improvement
– Collaborate with mechanical, instrumentation, and production teams to diagnose and resolve plant
breakdowns.
– Participate in machine commissioning, system upgrades, and retrofitting of control panels or drives.
– Contribute ideas for improving system reliability, automation, and energy efficiency.
– Participate in training, toolbox meetings, and skill-building sessions to stay current with technologies.
• Compliance with Vistari’s Corporate Systems
– Apply the highest standards of internal controls and risk management practices and behaviours and
embed a positive risk and control culture.
– Demonstrate prudence, sound judgement, and appropriate and timely escalations in management of all
types of risk (including fraud risk) applicable to the role.
– Promote and adhere to Vistari’s core values and ensure compliance with organisational policies and
procedures, collective agreements, and statutory employment standards.
– Maintain zero tolerance to bribery, fraud, and corruption, and ensure the immediate reporting of any
corruption or suspect behaviour that threatens Vistari’s reputation.
– Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures and immediately report any safeguarding concerns.
– Any other related responsibilities that may be assigned by the Line Manager from time to time.
